Barcelona reveal Fabregas deadlock

Barcelona board spokesman Toni Freixa has hit out at Arsenal for failing to negotiate a deal with wantaway captain Cesc Fabregas.

The Gunner is striving to get a move back to his homeland, but the Catalan giants have failed in their attempts to take him to Camp Nou, after Arsene Wenger rejected their initial bids and Freixa has admitted the board are growing frustrated.

Speaking to reporters, he said:"Arsenal don't want to sit down and negotiate with us. It's not a problem with the wishes of Cesc or of Barca – they simply don't want to negotiate."

Meanwhile, Barcelona have announced huge losses of 77million euros over the previous year, according to vice-president of financial affairs Javier Faus.

Faus has lashed out at former president Joan Laporta after he suggested they were just 11million euros in arrears in June.

But after a further investigation, the true extent came to light, much to current president Sandro Rosell's disappointment.

"The figures presented by the former board don't reflect the real image. They have cheated. There is a structural problem. The sporting excellence in the last few years has not been reflected in economic excellence. The new board's goal is to bring economic excellence alongside sporting excellence," Faus said.
